How do you set up a Wifi connection at a hotel away from home?

Hi,

I lent my boyfriend my laptop because he has to go to a week long class for work. Right now he's at the hotel and he can't get connected to the internet supposedly due to a firewall impeding him from connecting. He has disabled it and he still can not get on. Does anyone have any ideas of things he can do to get connected? I have only ever used my wifi connection at home and have no idea what he can do to get connected.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

If the laptop picks up a connection but it unable to connect, then you need a password known as a WEP key. The reception desk should have this information.

well, in an emergency, he can use msconfig to disable all non-essential startups. This will leave the computer completely unprotected, so he'll need to scan for viruses and trojans when he gets home.

ColinC is quite correct concerning firewall; crank that sucker back up. To set DHCP, go to Control Panel | Network Connections | Right-click Local Area Connections | Properties | Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) | Obtain IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically radio buttons should be checked. OK all the way out; your laptop now has DHCP enabled. Try to connect again; should work this time.

Just one other thing ... you may want him to write down the original settings first before changing your home setup. This way, you can return settings to original values when you get the laptop back.

Check your access points for unsecured connections, otherwise use netstumbler to tunnel under those password required sites

from the control panel access all connections and windows should search for new access points. Of course you usually have to pay for using the access point which has to be set up through the reception desk.( happy surfing). If all else fails most Hotels have computer terminals available for free use in their lobby's.

His firewall should NEVER be turned off. On wireless this is even more important, it could let someone trash the machine. He must turn it back on, Go to the firewall configuration in control panel. Under advanced there should be an option to allow dhcp, it may be in a list to add as an exception. The hotel may be using encryption, they should for safety. If not he should be able to use the wireless utility to find and connect to the hotel system. If they are they should be able to give him the key, use the utility and enter the key.

How old do you need to be to book a hotel room?

Okay, my boyfriend and I were supposed to go to Disney with my mom and her boyfriend. But, my mom and her boyfriend recently broke up, so now we can't stay in his condo. My boyfriend and I still have plane tickets so we want to book a hotel, but he is 20 and I am 19. We both have credit cards. Would we be able to do this?

Quite often you need to be 21 and older for a hotel room (at least with reputable hotels) and 25 to rent a car (some places allow you to rent a car under 25, but good luck finding them and not paying an arm and a leg).

I should note though that often when using a credit card to book and pay for a hotel, age really doesn't typically come into play (except maybe when you check in and they need id). But that is not the same for car rentals.

I think you should. I think if an age limits exist it is 18. I think they are more concerned with getting paid. I would call and ask the hotel.

You need to be 18 to rent/book a hotel room, rent a car, etc. You both should be able to do so without any problem. If it's a hotel with a minibar or room service make sure you get an itemized bill and keep track of anything you used in the minibar or ordered thru room service so you can check your bill to make sure there were no "mistakes" in what you were charged.

Does anyone experienced a wedding and reception in Taal Vista hotel in Tagaytay Philippines?

How much did you pay for just the wedding and or reception? Would the hotel allow us to bring our own caterer?

forget taal vista. get your wedding scheduled at sonya's garden. it is much more romantic.

nothing beats the precision of asking them directly.

no harm will be done it is just an inquiry. call them at these numbers. Tel : (632) 886-4325; (6346) 413-1000.

or leave your email address at this link for them to reach you.

goodluck!

if you've written to them and they haven't replied back to you, i think that is proof enough of the service that they can give, considering that you are a POTENtIAL client to them and they don't reply to your inquiry...

but if you are deadset on having a wedding and a reception in TAAL VISTA then i suggest you try inquiring one more time. oh yeah, i doubt it if they will let you bring in your own caterer... they're a hotel so surely they will tell you that they can cater your reception.

my cousin did her wedding and reception in josephine's in tagaytay. the view was great, no doubt. she had a garden wedding but then by nighttime, you'd get some insects flying around because it's the outdoors.

How much would I make if i owned my own hotel ?

Does anyone own their own hotel? Should I work for a certain company or should I just build my own? Any ideas?

Impossible to answer. You don't give any information on what sort of hotel or the location you'd be intending to open. Even two almost identical hotels in the same location could make wildly different profits depending on how well they're run, let alone a luxury hotel in Manhatton compared to a hostel in Namibia.

If you haven't got any experience running a hotel then I'd go and work in one and at least work your way up to a supervisory position before trying to start your own one.

Well, it really depends, on The Hotel staff, paying them, food, electricity, features of the hotel. How much money you putting In the hotel, and etc...

What would you like to see in a family friendly hotel?

What are some things that you would absolutely need/ would want in a hotel that caters to families? How much would you be willing to to pay for these services? please be as specific as possible.

a pool, indoor and outdoor. maybe a water slide too. a daycare center so the parents can have alone time while the kids play. maybe a toy store that rents toys for their stay, like board games, family movies, squirt guns...etc.

Whats a good hotel to stay at to go to a colorado rockies game in denver?

Going to Denver in april. Need advice on a hotel that is close to stadium.

We like the Residence Inn by Marriott. It's within walking distance to Coors Field and is a great place to stay - it's an all suites hotel.

Have fun!

How old do you have to be to rent a hotel?

I thought it'd be nice to rent a hotel with my bf for valentines day. Do you know how old do you have to be to rent one? How much do they usually cost a night? Not looking for anything extravagant, just something nice.

Legally, you must be 18, some hotels require you to be 21, and all hotels require ID

The price really depends on what's going on in the area that the hotel is located, what brand the hotel is, and how full they are because of valentines day, the best bet is to call ahead and ask them.

I've seen good ones around $60 a night, and maybe some that are very nice, such as a hilton hotel which ar only usually $100 for a fancy hotel, but breakfast is about $20 a person. so i suggest go to a waflle house maybe.

18 and 21 are the allowed ages. If you are below 21 years old you must check the hotels check-in policies for minimum checkin age (of 18), because some hotels allow only people of 21 years old. The person checking-in needs Photo ID.

if you have proper identification card and a proper reason to rent than that should be fine.....

How to help a Katrina victim living in a hotel with her four children?

I am a Dollar General Employee, and have a young lady that I work with that was ( Is ) a victim of Katrina and now lives in a run down hotel with her four children. I don't know how to help her,I have checked all the resources that I can think of and would really like some ideas. I am fealling frustrated with our system failing to help those victims that are really in need. She can't receive public assistance because of a break in at her previous residence and barely makes enough money to get back and forth to work. I would like any assistance in finding her the resources that she needs to get moved into a place so that her children can have a safe stable environment. Please help. Sincerely, C. Covert

OK i know this is going to sound harsh and rude , not my intentions at all , Katrina was 19 months ago , BILLIONS of dollars in aide has been poo red into the region . if some one at this point is still homeless or living in a motel . it's their own fault and should not get another dime in assistance

i have been to New Orleans at least 6 times since Katrina , and just as many times to Mississippi , it's stunning how after 19 months new Orleans is still a mess while Mississippi is up and running and people are getting their lives back together the only difference between the two places is the people of Mississippi got off their butts and took care of what needed done , while New Orleans continues to stand around with their hands out

I am tired of katrina people being called victums. Get a decent job and pick yourself up and get on with your life!

There is no reason she should be in a hotel. FEMA provides homes for persons effected by Katrina. With 4 kids she also qualifies for food stamps and medicaid. Stop feeling sorry for her and tell her to look for new alternatives.

Usually, the only way you can't get public assistance is if you did something wrong...ie: tried to defraud them, had an unauthorized person living in the household (especially if they are paying for your housing too). You may not be getting the whole story on this one.

If she really does need help, try churches.

I don't quite understand why she can't get some help through Public Aid. She obviously does not make enough at Dollar General to take care of 4 kids. What does a break in have to do with getting help? What about food stamps? There is no way she does not qualify for that.

it's nice you want to help, but come on. I have a number of friends who were hurt by hurricances. One of them lived in Florida and had her residence destroyed so she moved to Mississippi and proceeded to knocked out by Katrina. She lost everything TWICE and was still able to get back on her feet. The biggest problem with Katrina victims is not the federal government but the state and local government of New Orleans. She should have been in better shape by now.

What would be the average cost of a penthouse hotel room per night?

It's for a story I'm writing, I needed a price rate or an average penthouse hotel room per night somewhere in Canda.

between $2000 and $8000 dollars

No seriously it's about the same as the US, closely similar prices. Penthouse, if it's big, might be about 200-300 bucks? One bedroom is usually between 65 and 140 dollars?

What job can I get as a 16 year old in the hotel and hospitality careers?

I am interested in attending The Hotel School at Cornell. I know the first step is to show a strong interest in the field- what better way than with a job?

My only problem is that I doubt hotels would hire a 16 year old to work for them. What other jobs can I get over the summer to add to my resume, which would look just as impressive to admissions officers?

Do you have to be a guest in a hotel in order to use the casino?

This may ba a dumb question but i am planning a trip to atlantic city for a weekend and have never been to a casino. Do you have to be a guest in a hotel in order to use the casino? Or can you just go "casino hopping"?

Yes, you can go "casino hopping."

Las Vegas is the same, if and when you ever go. You can walk in and out of any casino you want, and shop, browse, gamble, do whatever you like. You do not have to stay there.

Casino hopping is welcomed whole heartedly. But if you are trying to get comps you will have a better chance if you play in one casino. Lets say you lose $1000. If you lose $200 in five casinos you won't get much but $1000 in one casino might get you a room or at least some meals. You don't actually have to lose money. Just get rated and put some time in. For instance 2 hours in five casinos or 10 hours in one casino. 10 hours is worth something.

They make money by you playing there so you can be 100% sure they will let you play no matter what... juts dont win too much you will end up with nothing, IRS and the casinos will take care of you.

How can I find a hotel which has a "corporate" rate for a patient of the hospital?

My daughter is a patient of one hospital.

She has an appointment next week, but we have to drive up for 3 hours, so we want to stay at a hotel.

Is there any way to find the hotel which has a corporate rate for patients?

Most hospitals have deals with hotels and motels near them just call the hospital and ask them. When I was at Jefferson Univ.Hospital in Philadelphia my other half stayed at the Doubletree and we got a real good rate.

Ask to speak with a manager and explain your situation. Hotels always have deals depending upon occupancy. Hotels hate empty rooms. You might get a small room by the elevators but you can negotiate. They will not let you leave. Name your price.

Is the "Fallside Hotel" a good hotel to stay in Niagara Falls?

I am planning a trip to the Niagara Falls next month. While searching for hotels near by the falls I found the "Fallside Hotel and Conference center" which seems to be a good option. What do you think about it? Have you stayed there before? Which other hotel would you recommend? I am looking for something nice but not very expensive. Thank you very much in advance!

I'm not sure about this hotel, but you will find some good selections and deals overe here : http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/Canada/Niagara-Falls/

You can filter your results after you have entered your dates, including price - but i would look at other features like location , star rating and location on the maps provided.

The Fallside Hotel is in Niagara Falls, New York. It does look very nice, and is close to the Seneca Casino.

Be aware that you get a better view, and a better variety of attractions if you stay on the Canadian side! There are plenty of great hotels over here as well. I'd recommend the ones on Fallsview Blvd:

-Sheraton Fallsview

-Marriott Fallsview

-Embassy Suites Fallsview

-Fallsview Plaza Hotel

Have a great trip!

i think it would be nice to have free ti-vo/dvr

or a computer with free internet

strict about noise after 9:00 pm

My perfect hotel is, It just has to be nice and clean...To me the cleaning is the number one thing. The best part to me is the room because that's where most of your time will be spent at.

I love the Waldorf Astoria

The part of hotels i like are the pools and food

I like when the rooms are big and you get good service

I usually like to stay at a Super 8 no matter what the amenities. Don't know why. Just like them. But I do like if a hotel has a continental breakfast.

the Best part is away from the Road so you do not hear traffic all night

i also try and stay away from the Ice maker and the Elevators

Also the beds have to be hard.

a hot in EVERY room

a 40in lCD Tv

elevators in every room

and a 24 sq in bathroom and a golden beds

holiday inn or travel lodge.

my favorite part is the free things!! :)

As long as it's not owned by a guy named Norman...it's all good by me...

Can I stay in a hotel without having to show my credit card?

My father reserved a hotel for me and my girlfriend. He entered in all the credit card information, but told me I couldn't take the credit card on the trip.

Is it possible that the hotel doesn't ask to see the credit card it was purchased under?

You had better call them in advance to avoid problems. Hotels normally require a credit card when you check in because some people will skip out without paying. Even if they pay for the room, they'll order room service or movies and leave without paying for those.

Some hotels may accept a large cash deposit in place of a card. Others will simply refuse to let you check in.

I once worked for a travel website and periodically received calls from customers who showed up without their credit cards. The hotels refused to let them stay. There was nothing that we could do about it.

Yes but you need a Credit Card authorization letter. Some hotels, like the one where I work, doesn't usually allow these types of transactions because the hotel needs to get a CC imprint. In some cases, they allow people to deposit cash for incidentals if there are no other options. I'm not certain about other companies though. So my suggestion is to call the hotel to get a credit card authorization letter.

Btw, it depends where your father booked the stay. If he did a direct booking with the hotel, then yes they still need to see a credit card - even if it's not the one it was reserved under (as long as you have a legit picture ID with the same name as the CC you're carrying). If it was booked under companies like Hotels.Com, Expedia, Travelocity or Access USA, then no. They do, however, usually require a credit card for incidentals deposit (movies, bar services, snacks, phone calls, etc).

If that doesn't work for you, try Pre-Paid CC. You can buy them at stores like Duane Reade, Walmart, or Path Mark.

call and ask the hotel, some require it some don't none the less they are going to ask for your ID. and it is not going to match the credit card.

What is the pros and cons of the hotel reservation system?

Hi, I have a small hotel and I am going to upgrade my hotel's system.

Does some one know how many kind of hotel reservation system in the world so far and what are their pros and cons?

for this type of answer you may want to contact one of the hotel chains, Marriott, Crowne Plaza, etc. and ask their customer service dept directly, they would prob be the best avenue to get accurate info for what you want to do.

idk

Every hotel uses a different property management system. The larger chains like Hilton may own copyrights on their systems, so definitely check with the companies. Personally I work for Hilton, and their management system is called OnQ. I think it is a great system. I can't find too many bad things about it. I worked with some people who worked for Holiday Inn and they used a system called Opera. I could find stuff in the computer, but since I was used to OnQ, I liked that more. I think it's all about preference. Look around at your options. Ultimately it is your hotel and your choice! Start with Google-ing hotel property management systems and see where it leads you. It sounds like a bunch of fun to me. Good luck!

How to get from Hong Kong International Airport to MetroPark Hotel in Kowloon?

Hi Everyone,

I heard that there are buses to and from the airport. I am looking to book a hotel room in Metropark hotel in Kowloon (75, Waterloo road - Mong Kok to be exact) I was wondering which is the easiest/cheapest way to get to the hotel once I arrive. And also, is this hotel close to MTR station? Is it close to the big malls? Thanks in advance for all answers!

Take the Airport Express train to the Kowloon Station and from there you can get a free shuttle bus right to the Metropark Hotel in Kowloon. You can buy a three day tourist pass at the airport which includes round trip to and from the airport and unlimited rides on the MTR and some other forms of transportation for $300HKD, you'll also get a $50HKD refund when you return the card at the airport when you leave, it's a great deal if you plan on using the MTR to get around.

http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/airport_express/complom_free_bus.html

http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/airport_express/aepass_index.html

There are no direct bus from Airport to Metropark Kowloon but to Metropark Mongkok rather. If you want, the cheapest way is to take A21 to Argyle Ctr, Nathan Rd near Mong Kok MTR Stn and walk from there or take a taxi to the hotel for HK$16 (luggage may charge extra if you have many or have large size). A21 cost you HK$33 and alight at the stop after Lai Chi Kok Rd the 1st stop after turning into Nathan Rd. If you do not have much luggage, then you can take E21 from Ground Transportation Ctr to before Fa Yuen St, Mongkok Rd and walk or take a taxi for HK$16, which is cheaper than the above. E21 cost you HK$14 and 23 stops apart. If you get an Octopus card, then you can get a free transfer to E21A at Lantau Toll Plaza, which can bring you directly to the hotel bus stop located just opposite the hotel. Or transfer at before Fa Yuen St, Mongkok Rd and take 3 stops to get to Man Kee Mansion, Waterloo Rd, the 2nd stop after turning into Waterloo Rd. The hotel is just opposite the stop and cost you HK$3.5.

This hotel is not near any MTR Stn but you can walk to Mongkok MTR Stn for Tsuen Wan line & Kwun Tong line, as well as Mongkok East stn for East Rail line. There is a shuttle bus available from hotel to TST so you can make use of. There are many shopping malls at TST and there is Grand Century Place is the largest shopping mall nearby at Mong Kok East Stn. The hotel provides free shuttle to Tsim Sha Tsui which you can make use of and there is a MTR Station called Tsim Sha Tsui which you can take to Hong Kong Island side, as well as New Territories, but Mong Kok Stn is better and Mong Kok East Stn is better for the Eastern part.

I took a bus from Kowloon. It picked me up in front of the Chung king Mansion, I want to say 33A. But not sure. I think it cost like $30HKD. You can ask anyone when you get to the airport. Tell them you want to go to Kowloon. TSIM SHA TSUI EXIT.

Buses

If you're on a budget, there are plenty of buses that can take you wherever you need to go in Hong Kong. Buses between the airport and Central take around 45mins, with journey time to Kowloon around 30mins. Fares vary depending on which route, however the maximum you're likely to pay is $5. Buses during the day are frequent, upwards of every 10 mins, while night buses are generally every 30mins. Remember, buses don't give change, so try and bring the right amount where possible.

Main Routes to Central (including Kowloon) A11, E11, N11 (night-bus)

Travel Time: 45mins

Cost: $5

Frequency: Every 10-30 minutes.

The Airport Express is the quickest route between the airport and Central Hong Kong; taking just 24 minutes- less to Kowloon. The train runs like clockwork at 12-minute intervals, from 05:50 - 00:48, daily. Tickets are priced at around $50 for a single and $100 for a return (valid for one month). Tickets must be purchased before getting on the train, with ticket vendors stationed at the entrances.

I'm not sure how many bags you have. but if you want to take the METRO (MTR) just take the Airport line (GREEN) to HONG KONG. Switch to the RED LINE. Get off at the TSIM SHA TSUI EXIT. That's KOWLOON

How much would it cost to live in a hotel?

I've heard of celebrities doing it and was wondering what it would cost an average person in an average hotel.

ok well depends what kind.

its like around 150 a night. for a aveage hotel.

so a month in a hotel would cost 4,200 a month.

so a year would be 50,400 every year.

in five years living in a hotel it would cost you...

252,000 dollars!!!!

you could probably make an agreement with the hotel and they could discount your rate.

Also motel six or a like priced budget hotel might be an option.

I seriously doubt that celebs actucally pay that money out of pocket if they 'live' in the hotel while on location.

the price and run from $50 a night to $20,000 a night.

most celebrities are paying around $5,000-20,000 night

but if *you* plan on living in ahotel and u don have that kinda of money.. u do better gettin apartment

first you have to say if its a five star or cheap one star hotel...in a five star..1 month would range between $10,000 to $16,000, 1 star, between $3,000 to $7,000

What is your most favorite hotel to spend the night at and why? ?

Out of all the different Hotel to spend the night at, which hotel is your favorite hotel to sleep at and why?

I would say my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at is the Embassy Suites. The hotel is luxurious, has a great breakfast, comfortable rooms, the staff is very helpful to ensuring you have a wonderful visit.

The hotel Burnham in Chicago.

It's a boutique hotel, so there aren't that many rooms/guests. There's a goldfish in the room when you go, with jazz music playing, the beds are ridiculously comfortable, and the view is good too.

The Madonna Inn, in San Luis Obispo, CA. Awesome themed rooms, the restaurant is gorgeous, the bathrooms are a sight to see, one of a kind. It is even fun to visit even if you are not staying the night.

1) Embassy Suites

2) Marriott - full service

Both are very nice (I've never had any problems with either) for the price. Embassy Suites I grade higher due to the GREAT free breakfast, multi-room suites and cool atrium set up

Peace

Having stayed at several different hotels my summertime go to is the "Holiday Inn Sunspree; Panama city Beach"Nice resort atmosphere and have only had one bad incident there and that was taken care of as soon as reported.

Bellagio. They have good hamburgers.

If you are a kid at heart-The Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando!! My kids loved it. But the best hotel that I stayed in with my husband was the Westin.

Hyatt or Marriott because they have the best service and the nicest people

What skills do you need to be a good hotel night auditor?

What are some skills that you need and what are some good ways to exhibit these skills in your day to day tasks at the job. This is for a big hotel chain.

What is your favorite moderate hotel in Disney world?

I'm going to Disney for my 21st birthday and I recently go a hotel upgrade from Disney to a moderate resort. I've never stayed in one and I want to chose the best one. What is your favorite?? The choices are Coronado Springs, Carribean Beach, Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside. Please please please include when you visited the hotel so I can make my decision wisely. Thank you!

Port Orleans Riverside in late Sept. & early Oct. 2007. We went during the free dining plan & had a wonderful time. Even thought there were a lot of people (it was also Epcots Food & Wine Festival)~ we never noticed a crowd.

Some people may complain there is a long walk to get around, but I didn't think things were that far. Alligator Bayou is closer to lobby area. We stayed in Magnolia Bend & our room & quiet pool were perfect.

There were blinds & room darkening drapes so you can sleep in. We never noticed outside noises or water flushing from other guests.

There is a curtain that totally separated the sink/bathroom area from the room~ good for privacy. The room has a compact refrigerator that was perfect to keep water & snacks cold. There is also a small coffee pot~ easy to get day started with that. Don't pack a blow dryer or iron~its also in room as well as a safe.

The CMs were so friendly & very helpful. We didn't ask for a water view ~ because sometimes the view is of a pool. Why pay more for a partial pool view~~ we got view of Sassagoula River & didn't pay more!!

Another good feature of POR is there is boat transport to & from Downtown Disney. Don't miss this trip.

We didn't eat at Boatwrights~ used our table service meals for in park or other resorts restaurants. We did eat at POR fast food dining area (sorry can't recall its name). The pasta is cooked to order with your choice of ingredients & sauce~ that is enough for 2 to share.

I could go on & on about POR. We loved it. Our next trip is in November & we'll stay at Port Orleans French Quarter. It's smaller & has no table service restaurant~ I don't think we'll be disappointed with POFQ either.

Oh, the WDW bus transport picks up at POFQ then goes to POR, drops off same way too. So bus can be crowded for those going to POR~~ it really wasn't bad. Longest time we waited was 10-15 minutes, usually was about 3-5 minutes.

We have been to all the Moderate resorts at Disney, and by far, our favorite is Coronado Springs. There is just something special about it! The grounds are VERY nicely kept, there is a great food court that looks like you are in a Mexican marketplace, there is a very nice sitdown restaurant, and the pool has this fantastic pyramid with a giant water slide! You can rent those 4-6 person bikes too and ride all around the grounds. We have stayed at Coronado approx. 10 times, our most recent time in May of this year.

I definitely love Port Orleans, Riverside!

It's a moderate resort but it's beautiful, fun and relaxing!

They have a bar right next to the main pool (they have about 5 pools)

They have a huge dining hall which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner!

They also have a bar, restaurant, gift shop and a lobby!

It's beautiful and fun!

I've stayed at Port Orleans, Riverside about 4 times!

My favorite is Caribbean Beach. It is so tropical and it has a great food court. The pool(s) are nice and they are updating the main pool so it is more like Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Im going to be there for 15 days come the end of OCT and beginning of NOV. It's a very nice Hotel and the rooms are very nice! All of them are nice I haven't stayed at all of them but my family has and The Caribbean is the one they/I choose!

The Carribean Beach Resort for sure!! I have been there many times and its the best. This year in august was the last time. Its great for adults as well as children and has the best tropical theme and the food court is really big. You will love it plus since your turning 21 it has a pool bar where they have fabulous drinks!

My family and I have stayed at several of the moderate resorts and Coronado Springs is our favorite by far. The rooms are quiet and the pools are excellent. They also have a good selection of restaurants. Have fun!

Carribean Beach, i love the beach and the fact that you feel like you are in a different part of the world. Visited Oct 2007

I think they are all very nice. I have stayed at them all and my favorite for fun is Caribbean Beach. My favorite for a quieter stay is Port Orleans French Quarter.

I've stayed in every kind of hotel (cheapest to most pricey) at Disney. and I will say they ALL are nice(:

port orleans french quarter was really nice(:

i loved animal kingdom lodge too:D

port orleans french quarter.

i loved it.

stayed there in june of 2007.

How do I get from Newark Airport to my hotel that is located in Jersey City ?

My hotel is located right next to the Newport/Pavonia stop, right across from the mall. I would really like to take public transportation instead of paying for a cab.

So far no one has it completely right. Take the Airtrain to the train station. Hop on any New Jersey Transit train bound for New York (dont bother with Amtrak). Take it one stop to Newark Penn Station.

At Newark Penn Station hop on the PATH (you can only go one way on the PATH at Newark), and take it to Newport/Pavonia which is the next to last stop on that line.

My friend, I agree with the last post, however, she made a small error.

You see, my friend, the PATH train the lady said take only goes between Newark Penn Station and the WTC. You want to go to Pavonia/Newport, that means you will have to change trains Journal Square station.

When you take NJ Transit from Newark Airport train station to Newark Penn Station, and transfer to the PATH, take the PATH train from Newark Penn Station to Journal Square.

Once at Journal Square, cross the platform and transfer to the eastbound train that will goes to 33rd Street, Manhattan. That train will stop at the Pavonia/Newport station.

I hope this information is very helpful.

Good luck and enjoy you trip

Native New Yorker with nearly 30 years riding the rails

Take the Airtran to the Liberty-Newark International Airport Train Station. Transfer to the Amtrak or New Jersey Transit and take it to the Newark stop. Transfer to the PATH train (same station) that is bound for Hoboken. Arrive at Pavonia/Newport. Party.

Check out the Trip Planner at:

http://www.panynj.com/airtrainnewark/

you can put in the time, etc.

Will take about an hour, but it is the inexpensive way to go.

How much will it cost us if we take a taxi from suvarnabhumi airport to royal river hotel?

From the airport, we're planning to go directly to the hotel by taxi. How long would be the travel time? Please recommend other options on how to get there the cheapest way. thank you.

About 300 baht give or take. That includes the 50 baht surcharge at the airport and the 65 baht tolls. But be sure to take only a meter taxi with the meter on. Don't agree with those people who are going to bug you in the airport about a taxi, they will only take you for a ride. You also can take a bus but you never know how far from your hotel they will dope you. For $10 it worth the trip in the taxi.

More or less 300baht for metered taxi only. Don't worry Thais are kind and they will not ask for more than what you have to pay. Just Say Sawadee Khrap for hello and Khob Khun Khrap for thank you with a smile...

You should take a metered taxi which brings the people to the departure area. These taxis have normally no permission to take passengers from the airport and they expect to go empty back to Bangkok city.

So they will be happy when you want to go with them. But you have to be fast because the police/security will not allow them to wait long.

About 300 Baht is OK for the taxi but if you should take a limousine service in the arrival area you have to pay 800-900 Baht.

What would be a good hotel to stay in Paris for a family of 3?

I have been trying to research hotels but so far I cannot seem to find one that caters to families. I would like a nice hotel and do not wish to spend more than $300.00 a night. It's imperative we find one in a safe neighborhood, preferably in St. Germain des Pres. We would also consider an apartment in this area or in Marais. Does anyone have one they can recommend?

I think your best option may be an apartment in Le Marais/St. Germain des Pres. You will be best served by Mr. Thierry Faradji at www.parisbestlodge.com, as he has approximately 20 beautiful and reasonable apartments in Paris for weekly rentals (and if you book 7 nights, you will get an 8th night for free). For example, a beautiful, well-located studio which would accommodate a family of 3 would run you approximately 800 Euros for the week....Tell Monsieur Faradji that I recommended him to you! He is very accommodating and helpful and will know exactly what to do for your comfort and well-being during your visit to Paris.

I just recently when to Paris and for the first time I stayed in a Studio that I rented through www.lodgis.com...go to furnished rentals. It came out cheaper than staying at a hotel, plus I had a little kitchen with fridge and dishwasher. Some even have a little clothes washer. The only bad thing is that I think you have to stay at least for a week, but it's worth a try. Everything is done by internet and fax.

Hi there,

I recently came across a great website which might help you - http://Paris35.com

Hotels for 35 euro per night, and they also have apartments for similar [and higher] prices, which don't appear on all the other websites for Paris.

You might be able to find something suitable for your family, and if it's an apartment, you will have cooking and washing machine facilities too.

Good luck!

How much should a car ride from Delhi train station to a hotel cost?

I stayed at the Taj Palace hotel in Dew Delhi. They are charging me Rs2245 for a car that collected us from New Delhi train station and took us to the hotel -- a 20-minute journey. Rs2245 is around $40, which seems way to expensive.

Are we getting ripped off?

An ordinary car should charge only Rs 150 maximum. A limousine should cost maximum Rs 500.

Yes you most certainly are!

Go to Ajmeri gate side on New Delhi railway station. There is a booth for PRE-PAID Taxis. You book a taxi for yr specific destination for a specefic price which is paid in advance to guy at the booth and he will give you a recpt. for the same.

Conisdering the fact you are going to TAj, the cabbie my expect a nice tip! :-)..

enjoy your stay

Standard minimum fare for a taxi is about INR 450 - 500. AC cabs cost approximate 25% more.

Yes you were ripped off :-( Would recommend getting a 'Pre-paid' taxi from the booth outside the station/airport next time you visit. Those charge government approved rates and taxis have to comply.

NB:

Since you ordered a car frm the hotel then the price they are charging is pretty standard. Five star hotels have a higher basic rate then city cabs.

What music video shows a band rent an entire hotel which turns out to be haunted?

A rock/punk band music video I can't remember the name of shows a band rent an entire hotel for the weekend, they receive a note that asks them to stay out of one of the rooms, and as they individually disobey the request they see themselves in different forms, one of them see's himself as a bartender, another in a bear suit doing sexual acts, another yelling at himself in a nice suit in the hallway, and I can't remember anymore than that but does anyone know what video I'm trying to describe?

Does anyone know who gives fair discounts to book a number of hotel rooms for a wedding?

Can I sneak a second person into a Japanese hotel to avoid the double-occupancy price?

I've noticed that nearly all hotel or ryokan prices are per person in Japan. And the per person price is the same if it's just one person or two. So the overall price is double when there's two people staying in one room. This seems like a rip off. Does anyone have experience paying for just one person but then sneaking in a second?

What's the point , rates here are per room twin share - it's dishonest and also saves you nothing doing it the way you suggest. Check these prices out and compare with the single rates :

http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/Japan/

http://www.equavista.com/japan/

... the discounts are worth more than trying to do things the way you suggest and risking problems and bad etiquette.

It depends on the place. Some places charge for the room and allow 2 people. Adding more than that, they'll just charge you for another 2 people so you should've just gotten 2 rooms to begin with. I learned that lesson the hard way. That's why I'd call them and ask for sure and if they are going to charge you by the person, making the room double if 2 people stay, then call around to find somewhere that doesn't do that. If you are at a ryokan or a smaller place, I think it would be difficult to sneak in someone to stay as "visitors" might not be able to get past the lobby or when they deliver the food to your ryokan room you will be busted when they see "visitors". One thing you might try for a larger place is to never be seen together. Both act like guests, not visitors.

Can't you see that you give a good reason for them to dislike foreigners? Why don't you follow the rule as Japanese do? I'm living as an expat in Japan, and other expats and I often feel small thanks to thoughtless tourists like you.

act like you are a costumer and walk by the resorption's desk then go back and book for one. then tell your friend and give him the room number and...walla! your in!

Yes, just say he is a guest? it works on americans, why wouldnt it work on the silly japanese?

Cheapskate!

It is a crime that you are going to do it.

You may be arrested by the police if it was found out.

well go ahead and sneak someone in and when u get caught just say oh sorry thought i payed for both of us cause it was alot of money or something like that

What do you do when Travelosity makes a mistake, books a hotel on the wrong date and charges you for it ?

We spent an hour booking a trip to Seatle June 07 with Travelosity in Sept 06. 15 mins latter email confirmed a hotel in Oct and flight in Nov. After another hour they canceled everything so we thought. The credit card came and $400 charged from the Hotel as no show. Now Travelosity says there is nothing they can do even though it was their mistake. After 2 more hours on the phone they say to contact Customer Service, which can only be reached by phone. Have they ever messed up things this badly for anyone else and what did you do.

i would call them and go off on them and have them give you ur money back!!!:)

panic. get stressed. shout at 'puter. that's what I do. dunno about anyone else tho

I would just keep calling until they resolve or if your credit card has a good policy on disputes, (like AMEX) you can always go to them and ask to reverse the charge and they will do it for you.

Never use them again. They are a terrible service with poor to no customer service. Next time use a real travel agent. Contact your credit card company and file a dispute and have the charges reversed.

I don't want to throw salt in your wound but they are terrible service i find out just how bad it is when i get my clients from them because they were terribly displeased with service and were stranded after events such as hurricane and missed flights.

It is a great service for self help and the do it your self traveler but ultimately the support is not there. I would become a thorn in their side but disputing charges will definitely be the easiest route to go.

How much does it cost to rent a hotel ballroom at Tucson hilton East?

I am going to throw a big 16 party and the eastside tucson hotel Hilton is the best spot and I was wondering how much it woulf cost?

There usually isn't a set price for something like that because there are too many variables, the number of rooms you might need, dining options, etc. You best bet is to submit and RFP through their website and you should get a response from the hotel.

I really have no idea, but Happy B-Day! Hope you have a blast.

What recourse does a guest have if the hotel denies theft by employees?

I'm asking this from the opposite side of what you may guess. I work as a clerk at a hotel and a guest told me certain items were missing from his room. Thing is, I know he's lying. It's too complicated to detail here, but there is no proof on either side.

unless he has physical evidence he is fuckd, no proof no case.

What is the proper tip for someone helping you at a hotel?

I made reservations for a weekend away and emailed the hotel to ask for tips on places to go for entertainment and restaurants. It is for a birthday. The guy that has been helping me has been great - he has emailed back and forth with me several times, made recommendations including websites so I can check it out myself, and is arranging reservations and getting us on the list for a club.

What is the appropriate tip to give him for all of his help when I get to the hotel?

slip him a 20

He sounds like the concierge. This is usually a service provided by the hotel. There is no customary tip. 10-20 as a tip is a nice gesture but up to you if you want to tip at all.

I would say the minimum would be $25, but $50 would be more appropriate.

Well you don't really tip the receptionist, but if you really want to reward him, write the hotel owner a personal letter of commendation about the person and mention him by name. That letter will go into his work record and could be the difference needed to get him promoted in the future, or even get a pay raise.

That is MUCH better than a tip.

Also, don't forget, there are indeed still people (though precious few anymore) who would see a tip as an insult. Some people simply do an excellent job from pride, which this person sounds like it, and are not pleased when customers assume they're only doing a good job because they are secretly begging for money. So avoid the tip.

Punch him in the face!

How can I get hooked up with cheap hotel deals?

I have a friend who has a family member who works at a Marriot Hotel. My friend gets hooked up because he's family. Are there other ways to get hooked up?

Haha, I have a friend that can get some hook up because he's friends with the manager at one place.. Sometimes friends offer others things at free of charge or even lesser.

So, either work there, or find someone and get close to that person, chill and stuff, and you may just get lucky.

What is the distance between the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and the Paris Sheraton Airport Hotel?

I am planning to arrive in Paris by the Train from London via the English Channel. I wanted to know whether it is advisable to stay at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Paris if I want to go sight-seeing to Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum and the Bridge in Paris. Also, how long would it take to cover the whole of Paris (sight-seeing)? Is there any particular tour of Paris that I should be aware of? Please advise.

I agree: BAD BAD BAD idea. Coming by train you will be lucky to arrive directly in downtown Paris so why stay at a hotel far out in the suburbs if you are coming to visit Paris?

You could walk between the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre (3 km = under 2 miles) or take the métro or bus. Check the www.ratp.fr website to download maps and other info. How long it takes to cover the whole of Paris depends on your idea of sightseeing. 2 days is a bare minimum to get a glimpse of the main attractions. But you could stay weeks and not have time to enjoy everything either.

No need to take tours unless maybe those bicycle tours, they are kinda fun and you learn a lot. A less sporty way of seeing the main attraction is the boat tours on the Seine. If you are traveling alone and haven't prepared your trip much hiring a tour guide for yourself can be a good idea for half a day or so, otherwise forget it. Your hotels will have brochures or you can get a list or tour guides from the tourist office (www.parisinfo.com). Don't go on any of the big tours, they are ridiculous and a complete waste of time.

The first two people gave wise advice. Why stay at the airport if you aren't even flying? It is way out in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing to do. You might as well find a place in town that will will give you easy access to the subway - especially since you are taking the train to begin with.

As far as tours go I would take two quick tours. Take a bus tour that will take you around the city for half a day. Then you can go back and pick the areas you want to hang out in. Also take a boat tour of the river seine. That shouldn't take long. Other than that - once you have an over all view of the place your really don't need a tour guide. Get a half decent guide book, make the metro your friend and just start going to places. Its a lot of fun.

You could spend a week in Paris. A weekend would give you a taste of it, but you'd realize that there is still a lot more to see.

The Louvre and Eiffel tower aren't too far from each other. It is a good walk if you are in the mood. I'd prefer the metro.

The airport hotel is in a distant suburb and staying there when your purpose is to see Paris is a terrible idea.

You will be a 38 minute (and 16.40 euro round trip fare) train ride from the city centre (CDG to Notre Dame). Just forget it.
