How old do you have to be to stay at a hotel?

So my friend keeps on IMing me and telling me that he's currently staying at a hotel in NY. The Holiday Inn to be specific. He's a minor though. How old do you have to be to stay at a hotel?

If You Have Your Parents Permission It Prolly Dont Matter.

in order to rent a hotel room you have to be at least 21 years of age. This is not a state law, but simply a hotel policy. The insurance that covers any damages that may occur while the tenant is renting requires that the tenant be 21 or else they wont cover anything. Also to rent a hotel room you must have a credit card so that they may charge you for any damages/missing items that may occur during your stay. The credit card must be in the name of the person who booked the room. You have to be 18 to get a credit card. So maybe your friend had someone else book the room and check in for him or he is staying with someone else in the hotel room. Or maybe...he's not where he says he is at all.

Parent's consent and the hotel knows the parents aren't going to stay there. They also can kick out the kids if they mis-behave.

:]

You can either have a parents consent or a credit card which means you have to be 18... Either that or your friend could be with another friend and their parents or something??

You have to have a credit card
