What is a good place to get a hotel and enjoy the nightlife in Columbus Ohio?

I'm gonna be spending the night in Columbus in mid July on my way to Louisville, Kentucky with some friends. That night we'll be seeing a Columbus Clippers baseball game and then we wanna hit some bars. So I want the hotel to be in a central location in regards to the stadium and some good bars. Also What are some good bars in the area.

Cooper Stadium, where the Clippers play, is not in such a great neighborhood...now, if you come back next year, they'll have a new park in the arena district, but for now it's on Mound Street. However, that is an easy (5 minute) drive from downtown, so staying anywhere central will be convenient for you. If money is no object, the nicest hotel in town is the Lofts on Nationwide Blvd. - you'll be right near the short north and arena district, and the hotel is beautiful. However, if you're on slightly more of a budget, you can be nearby at the Courtyard on Spring Street, which is also nice. The arena district and Park Street are has lots of popular bars - Frog Bear and Wild Boar, Brothers, Lodge Bar, Gasworks, etc. that stay hopping late into the night on weekends. And 71 runs through downtown, so it will be easy for you to hop back on the road to get to Louisville. Enjoy your visit!
