I bought a tv from a hotel liquidator which was preprogrammed for cable, being i'm on a student budget, i am

not planning on purchasing cable...so i get only 2 local stations: nbc and abc...i'm wondering if getting an antenna might resolve the problem? since i live in a big apt complex, i was also wondering if maintenance might be able to adjust the connection given that they have a larger station relay for channels...

Hi.

You should be able to switch the TV from Cable to Antenna

reception using the TVs set-up menu. Then use the auto

channel program function, if one is available, to set all the available channels in your area.

Play around with it.

You can't break it by using the menu functions.

If this is an old model TV, it may have an actual switch at the back by the cable/antenna connector.

If your apartment building has a community antenna, that will let you tune in quit a lot of channels. But if you just have a cable outlet, then you will have to use rabbit Ears. You can get those at a Dollar store.
