Why there is difference in hotel prices on different sites in Thailand ?

and does that mean that I should go with the lowest price ? What if the hotel also has its own official site from where I can book my room ? Can somebody tell me what is the difference ?

Khun Bob and Pete O have it right. Each website buys a block of rooms at a price and then sell them. And at if they don't sell the space they may have to eat it or return it to the hotel.

Lowest price? Sure, just make sure you read the reviews at each site for the hotel.

Hotel website? You can but, the price will be higher more than likely. The hotels don't hire people to update their websites daily weekly and sometimes even annually. So don't expect much from their websites.

The real difference is the booking. Most bookings on the websites whether it is www.asiarooms.com or agoda.com or sawadee.com or res24.com, there maybe a delay in confirmation up to 24 hours. That is common. And cancellations or refunds may take a few days to hit your credit card. Not to worry, most are very reputable.

I generally find www.asiarooms.com the lowest priced. Sometimes www.sawadee.com is lower on a particular hotel. www.agoda.com is okay but awkward to use. When in doubt use either www.sidestep.com or www.kayak.com to double check to see if you have the lowest price for a hotel room. These are both travel search engines. You can try expedia.com or Orbitz.com you will find they have hardly any selection on hotels and are too high.

Good luck

Hotel prices are not expensive in Thailand and one of the best sites to look is www.asiarooms.com where you can compare prices.

It is much cheaper to book on the internet and pre-pay before you get there.

If you just turn up at a hotel without a booking you will pay more as they know you need a room and generally will not discount the rates.

Some 'backpacker' hotels have standby rates that are good value but you cannot always rely on a room being available.

If you compare the rates listed by the hotels on their website to the rates on www.asiarooms.com you will find the 'asiarooms' site is generally up to 25% cheaper.

Good luck, enjoy Thailand.

East website gets a block of rooms from the hotel or resort to sell for certain dates. The best bet is to check all the websites and take the lowest price if they have rooms available. Website A may be closed out for a date but website B may be rooms available. Since I live here I always check for a hotel website and cost, and call the hotel, I tell them I am a returning customer and want the special price. Usually it works out for a better price then you can find on the websites. Hope this helped a little.
