My fruiend does housekeeping she loves it because she gets to used to the repetitive work of cleaning, she gets 17 rooms a day, and takes about 5 1/2 hrs to finish them, but before it took 8 hrs, I guess you need to get use to that, some companies even pay extra per room after you are done cleaning your 17 o 18 rooms, My girlfriend loves it because after she's done she goes home or stay at the work place and still gets paid for 8 hrs, even better she can continue doing rooms for $5.00 extra until she reaches 8 hrs. + she gets tips, not much but she gets just about 200 a week on tips. I woud say she averages about 700 o 800 a week doing housekeeping, if you like light cleaning then you should go for it. Usually males dont get hired or usually they quit within a week.
I did it for awhile. The problem I had was a lack of work hours. So I couldn't make enough to pay a pre school for my child while I worked. As for if it was terrible. No. I just think we didn't get a good chance to clean like I would at home. And the bed spreads didn't get cleaned the whole time I was there. So now when I have to go to a hotel or motel I like to go to a newer one. My thinking is that the bed spreads haven't had time to get too dirty.
It is not terrible work but it is very physically demanding. Some of the things you see that are left in the rooms can make you laugh or cry. The last motel i worked at the boss made us do things the way he wanted and made it very hard on us when you have 20min to do a room by yourself. But it was fun and got me fitter.
I did it when young it is easy, vacuum, make a bed, wipe up a bathroom that was cleaned just yesterday. Some work in a team so in and out striping the beds and doing the cleaning.
