How old do you have to be to rent a hotel room?

I'll be 18 in 4 months and I want to know how old you have to be to stay in a hotel room. My boyfriend is in college and I can't stay in his dorms.

It depends where you go. If you're anywhere near South Carolina, you must be at least 21 to stay at most all of them. The only hotel I knew of that you could be 18 and older was the Days Inn.

All you have to do is go to Hotel.com, or another discounted hotel site and look up hotels around his dorm. Call their number and ask. All places are different.

I remember renting a hotel room at age 16 and no one gave me a hard time. As long as you're paying by credit card, I don't think it matters.

If you have any doubts, stay in a big chain i.e. Days Inn, Marriott, etc. They're less likely to have a problem with it.

21 in most places. My husband had to travel a lot for his company between the ages of 19 and 21, even with a company credit card they gave him problems.
